Prater’s Insulators serves Crestview and northern Okaloosa County from our Panama City home base, about 60 miles west on I-10. Brian makes the drive for estimates and jobs in Crestview and the surrounding areas along Highway 85 and the I-10 corridor. No sales reps. No subcontractors. Brian handles every estimate himself.
Fastest Growing City in the Metro
Crestview is the county seat of Okaloosa County and the fastest growing city in the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin metro. New subdivisions are going up across the north side of the city and along the Highway 85 corridor. That means a mix of brand new construction and older established neighborhoods, sometimes on the same street.
New Construction
If you are a builder or GC working the Crestview subdivisions, we do new-construction insulation: fiberglass batting in walls, ceilings, and floors before drywall, plus blown-in for attics once the roof is dried in. Brian works directly with builders on scheduling and turns jobs around fast. More on batting insulation here.
Older Homes Inland
Crestview’s established neighborhoods have housing stock from the 1960s through 1990s with original or near-original insulation. Inland Crestview sits at higher elevation than the coast and does not get the Gulf breeze. Summer heat stacks up, and under-insulated attics make it worse. Bringing an older Crestview attic up to R-38 or R-49 with blown-in fiberglass is usually a half-day job. Most projects fall in the $2,000 to $4,500 range. Full pricing breakdown here.
Military Families, Eglin and Duke Field
Crestview is the most affordable option in the Okaloosa County military market. It is further from the coast than Niceville or Fort Walton Beach, but the housing dollar goes further. A lot of military families choose Crestview for the space and the price, then commute to Eglin or Duke Field. If you bought or are renting an older home and the energy bills are higher than expected, the insulation is worth checking before you blame the HVAC.
R-Values for Crestview Homes
Climate Zone 2. We recommend R-38 to R-49 in attics for most Crestview homes. Walls run R-13 to R-21 depending on framing. More on attic R-value here.
